Caroline Keicher (she/her)

Caroline Keicher directs the City Energy Project, a national initiative to create healthier and more prosperous American cities by improving the energy efficiency of buildings. She also works across cities in the American Cities Climate Challenge to advance energy efficiency and building decarbonization policies and programs. Keicher joined NRDC after nine years of working with cities to improve energy efficiency in buildings with the Institute for Market Transformation—most recently as manager of city engagement on the City Energy Project. She formerly worked on federal climate and transportation policy at the Sierra Club before earning her master’s of science in climate change and sustainable development from De Montfort University in Leicester, U.K. She also previously worked for the Marine Fish Conservation Network organizing South Atlantic support for stronger fishery management practices, and is a graduate of the Green Corps field school for environmental organizing. Keicher holds dual bachelor’s degrees in environmental science and zoology from the University of Florida. A native of Durham, North Carolina, she currently lives in wild and wonderful Morgantown, West Virginia, with her physics professor husband and two magnificent kids.
