Center for Campaigns & Organizing
The Center for Campaigns & Organizing (CC&O) helps win policy objectives at the local, state, and federal levels—building NRDC’s long-term power and influence with policymakers to fight climate change, protect the environment, and safeguard public health. From town halls to the halls of Congress, we work to build transformational coalitions with leaders across business, labor, and progressive organizations, in addition to advising decision makers. CC&O works closely with NRDC’s issue experts, scientists, and lawyers to create effective campaigns that put the public interest ahead of polluting industries, like the successful push to get the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 to President Joe Biden’s desk.
CC&O leadership also oversees the NRDC Action Fund, an affiliated but separate 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, which engages in advocacy and political (including electoral) activities for NRDC, but with certain legal limitations and restrictions.
The main work of CC&O revolves around:
organizing political advocacy coalitions and public affairs campaigns to achieve policy and power-building goals
advancing policy priorities in government at the federal, state, and local levels
educating the public concerning lawmakers’ votes—and holding those lawmakers accountable to voters
