Lara Ettenson

Western Lead, Equitable Electric Infrastructure Deployment, Climate & Energy

Lara Ettenson leads NRDC’s efforts to ensure that necessary electric infrastructure is equitably deployed in the Western United States and that energy efficiency programs are accessible to everyone. In addition, she advocates for a strong and inclusive clean energy workforce and for improvements to regulatory processes to center the voices of those most impacted. Ettenson has significant experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders to advance clean energy policies at the local and state level, including working with consumer advocates, social and environmental justice communities, energy program implementers, and economic inclusion representatives, as well as energy agencies, local governments, and utilities. Prior to joining NRDC, Ettenson worked on clean energy projects for the New York City Economic Development Corporation. She was also an elementary school science teacher. Ettenson holds a bachelor's degree in biology and environmental studies from Oberlin College, as well as a master's degree in environmental science and policy from Columbia University, and another in education from San Francisco State University. She is based in NRDC's San Francisco office.
