New Policy Will Boost Access to EV Charging Infrastructure
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Treasury announced today a new policy that gives consumers and businesses access to federal tax credits that reduce the cost of installing electric vehicle charging stations. And the U.S. Department of Energy has published maps that make it easy for people to determine which census tracts will be eligible for these critical tax credits.
The following is a statement from Max Baumhefner, a senior attorney at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council):
“The transition to electric vehicles requires more charging stations. This action by Treasury gives consumers and businesses access to federal tax credits that will help hit the accelerator on that needed build-out. It stands as an important step by the Biden administration in getting us to cleaner cars, trucks, and buses.”
