Sara Imperiale (she/her)
Sara E. Imperiale litigates and advocates in support of low-income communities of color and environmental justice coalitions across the country. In her current role, she builds litigation capacity and strategy for NRDC's Environment, Equity & Justice Center to advance community-led campaigns. Since joining NRDC in 2013, Imperiale has worked alongside grassroots clients and partners to abate moldy conditions in public housing, secure safe drinking water, require chemical facilities to develop prevention and response planning for hazardous substance spills, investigate environmental health conditions in detention facilities, and improve our food system. She also teaches an environmental justice seminar as an adjunct professor at New York University School of Law. Imperiale graduated from Muhlenberg College and holds a JD and master’s degree in environmental law and policy from Vermont Law School, where she was an editor for the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law. She is based in NRDC's New York office.
